July 22, 2017
An Educational trip to Nehru Planetarium was organized for the Geography students of Class XI on 22nd July 2017. There were educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, and some basic training in celestial navigation. There was a large dome-shaped projection screen onto which scenes of stars, planets and other celestial objects appeared and moved realistically to simulate the complex ‘motions of the heavens’. The celestial scenes were created using a wide variety of technologies, for example precision-engineered ‘star balls’ that combine optical and electro-mechanical technology, slide projector, video and full dome projector systems, and lasers. There were some discussions on space related phenomena. It was a fun filled trip where the students had the opportunity to learn in a totally different environment.
