“Life as a teacher begins the day you realize that you are always a learner”

A workshop on ‘Mathematical tools for Meaningful Pedagogical Practices’ was organized by Jodo Gyan Shiksha at Jodo Gyan Resource Centre, New Delhi on December 1 & 2, 2017 which was attended by the School’s Mathematics faculty.

The objective of the workshop was to change abstract mathematical learning to concrete learning. As the children learn better with what they touch, feel and observe, hands-on experience was emphasized upon. Illuminating pedagogical ways to teach Mathematics at the Primary level were discussed and pondered upon. The teachers were encouraged to use various new ways to teach Mathematics like juggling of numbers for addition and subtraction using fractions kit , digit cards game, beads for counting, half and skip counting, games for multiplication, taming the table, jodo straws game for 2 D and 3 D geometry, decimals and many more.

It was an interactive session where the teachers were engaged in a lot of hands-on activities. The workshop proved to be beneficial as it reinforced the classroom teaching methodology.
