At G. D. Goenka, students are taught Social Science in an altogether inventive manner involving and engaging them in various activities to promote a deeper understanding of complex social science concepts. And Milange- The Social Science Week truly reflected this ethos. A plethora of activities including Quiz, Character Dramatization, Role Play, etc., at Inter Class as well as Inter House levels, gave numerous opportunities to the students to research, collate and learn about many new concepts.
The Inter Class Quiz encompassed a range of topics including heritage, History, Geography and Political Science and enhanced knowledge, critical thinking skills, and competitive spirit amongst students of Classes VI to VIII. The super charged learners displayed their passion for Social Sciences, and their enthusiasm contributed to a lively and intellectually stimulating atmosphere.
Students of Classes VI to VIII also got an opportunity to display finesse and elegance as they enamoured one and all with their persuasive creative and speaking skills. The exuberant learners of Class VI indulged in vivid ‘Paper Bag Making’ and ‘Storytelling’ sessions sharing the thrilling and imaginative adventures of their life. The vivacious Class VII students got to emphatically narrate ‘Nadi Ka Safar’, the remarkable journey of a river, highlighting its various stages and key features and also make eye catching ‘Book Covers’ of their Social Science textbooks. Class VIII students engaged in activities like ‘Google Doodle’ and ‘Character Dramatization’ that allowed them to connect with the lives of influential leaders and struggles of freedom fighters who fought for their nation’s independence.
The Morning Assembly showcasing the philosophy behind Melange was like the cherry on top as it culminated the week-long celebrations with absolutely stunning performances. A short but educative mime focused on highlighting the importance of unity amidst diversity and fostered a sense of inclusivity and understanding among the students. Thereafter, students performed a dance displaying the vibrant diversity within our school community.
Students from different cultural backgrounds presented traditional dances, music and dramas. This allowed everyone to appreciate the richness and uniqueness of different cultures while promoting a sense of unity. The assembly served as a reminder that by embracing our differences, we can build a stronger and more resilient community, fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance for all.
